IPCC stands for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It is an international body established in 1988 by the UN Environment Programme(UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
It regularly assesses and reports the science of climate change, its impacts, and ways to mitigate these effects.
The IPCC scientific reports are aimed at governments, which then use them to formulate climate-related policies.
In addition, these reports form the basis of negotiations at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
