The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly kicks off in New York City.

Here's what we know: 
● World leaders are gathering today in New York City for the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

● Member states are expected to deliberate on two parallel challenges: ending the Covid-19 pandemic and redefining the post-pandemic global economy.

● President Biden will deliver his first UNGA speech as US President today and is slated to push for a unified response to major issues, including climate change.US President Joe Biden just arrived at New York city for UNGA. 

"The world must wake up. We are on the edge of an abyss and moving in the wrong direction,” United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres told the UN General Assembly ahead of the official start of the general debate.

Mr Guterres outlined the following global priorities: 
1. Bridge the peace divide. 
2. Bridge the climate divide. 
3. Bridge the gap between rich and poor, within and among countries. 
4. Bridge the gender divide. 
5. Bridge the digital divide. 
6. Bridge the divide among generations.
