The Senate's official email system crashed after receiving at least 200,000 submissions on the Constitution of Kenya Amendment (No. 2) Bill, 2024.
Thousands of Kenyans sent feedback on the proposal to extend the presidential and other elected leaders' terms from five to seven years.
Here a copy of Ruzeki's email response to the proposed bill:
Hi clerk/Senate,
I am Ruzeki, a voter from Kapsok polling station in Mogotio Constituency, Baringo County. I reject the proposed seven years term limits and instead support an alternative four years term limit.
Hawa wanasiasa can't even do the job in FIVE YEARS, what makes us think they'll do it in SEVEN YEARS ⁉️
Definitely, we can't solve problems by using the same politicians who created them.
Sadly, it's only two years of President William Ruto in office, and Kenyans are already exhausted, so imagine the situation when we extend it for another seven years; No way!
Let's make the President, Governor, Senators, MPs/MNAs and MCAs work better for Kenyans. We can achieve this by introducing a four years term limit and for a consecutive two terms for all.
It's as simple as that‼️
Even diapers must be changed often, and in short time intervals; for the same reason, we must change these MPs, MCAs, President, Senators, and Governors.
Imagine, IF dogs ran for elective offices, I'm sure they'd be a lot more loyal to their constituents than what we currently have in the Statehouse, Parliament or County assemblies.
In this broken system, nothing will change until WE THE PEOPLE vote on important issues like term limits...
Thank you for the opportunity to be heard.
