University of Pittsburgh professor doing Covid-19 research killed

A research assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh was shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend. Dr Bing Liu was on the verge of making very important findings toward the Covid-19.
On May 2, the Ross Police Department said a 37-year-old Dr. Bing Liu was found dead in his home on Elm Court from apparent gunshot wounds to his head, neck and torso. A second man identified as Hao Gu was also found dead in his car near Elm Court.
The university issued a statement saying it was deeply saddened by the tragic death of Bing Liu. Colleagues from the school of medicine describe Dr Bing Liu as an outstanding researcher and mentor. They have pledged to complete Liu's research. Dr Liu had been working to understand the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications.
According to Detective Sgt. Kohlhepp, the two men knew each other and so far, there is no evidence linking the apparent homicide with Dr. Liu’s research. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances and motives for the crime.
