The court's controversial ruling of Rigathi Gachagua Impeachment has reignited political debate in Kenya. Despite raising more questions than answers, many Kenyans believe the ruling will energize millions and strengthen calls for unity ahead of 2027 presidential election.
RULING: Gachagua's Impeachment Upheld, But the Political Journey Is Far From Over!

Today, the court has spoken, BUT...
While the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua remains in place, the judgment has left many Kenyans with more questions than answers. The court found that Gachagua's rights were violated during the impeachment process and awarded him compensation, yet the impeachment itself was allowed to stand????????
To many of his supporters, that outcome appears contradictory. How can a process be found to have violated constitutional rights, yet still produce a valid result? It is a question that legal minds will continue to debate and one that will likely be tested further at the Court of Appeal or even at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
For supporters of Rigathi Gachagua, however, today's ruling is not the end of the story. If anything, it has injected fresh energy into a political movement that many opponents believed had already been buried.
For months, supporters of the impeachment celebrated what they considered the end of Gachagua's political career. We were told that he would never recover politically. We were told that he would become irrelevant in two weeks. Some even mocked him openly and dismissed any possibility of a political comeback.
Yet today, many of those same voices are expressing concern that Gachagua could influence the future direction of opposition politics or become a rallying point for millions of dissatisfied Kenyans.
The contradiction speaks for itself.
If he is politically finished, why the continued concern about his influence?
The answer is simple. Rigathi Gachagua remains one of the most influential political figures in Kenya today. Whether one supports him or opposes him, his political relevance cannot be wished away.
What today's ruling has done is not silence his supporters. It has energized them.
Across Mt. Kenya and other parts of the country, many supporters feel that their concerns, voices, and aspirations have been ignored. Rather than weakening their resolve, the events of the past two years have strengthened their determination to participate in shaping Kenya's political future.
The objective has never been about one individual. It has always been about the future of Kenya.
As one of the millions of supporters who continue to stand with Rigathi Gachagua, I believe political change is bigger than any single leader. Should the opposition unite behind one presidential candidate through consensus, many of Gachagua's supporters will be prepared to rally behind that candidate in the spirit of unity and common purpose.
History teaches us that those written off are often the ones who return stronger.
In the biblical narrative, Pharaoh sought to stop Moses before his mission began, yet Moses rose to lead his people to freedom. King Herod sought to eliminate baby Jesus, yet Jesus grew to change the course of history. In modern times, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for decades before emerging to lead South Africa and become a symbol of reconciliation and victory.
The lesson is not that politicians are biblical figures or historical icons. Rather, it is that betrayal, persecution, setbacks, and adversity do not always end a journey. Sometimes they become the very fuel that strengthens it.
That is why those hoping for a fractured opposition may be surprised by what comes next.
Whether the matter proceeds to the Court of Appeal or not, the political conversation has already changed. Millions of supporters remain engaged, energized, and determined to play a role in shaping Kenya's future.
The impeachment may have been upheld.
But the WanTam movement behind Rigathi Gachagua remains alive.
And for his supporters, the #WANTAM journey continues.
The truth will set you free.
