✓ Nyayo National Stadium is where the start and finish are located. Thousands of fans are already in the Stadium.
✓ The roads that are used by athletes (been closed temporarily) include, JKIA to ABC Place in Westlands, Uhuru Highway, Waiyaki Way, James Gichuru, Harry Thuku, University Way, and Lang'ata Road from T-Mall coming all the way to Nyayo Stadium.
✓ Competitors in the full marathon were the first to take to the road at 6.45am from outside Nyayo Stadium on Uhuru Highway
✓ At least 14,000 registered athletes are competing today in full marathon half marathon and a 10-kilometre Expressway run, as well as a six kilometre fun run. The competitive races have prize money as follows:
1. 42km= Sh3.5 m for the winners...and Sh30k for the 20th position.
2. 21km= Sh150k for the winners...and Sh20k for the sixth position.
3. 10km= Sh100k for the winner...and Sh7.5k for the sixth position.
✓ Nairobi City Marathon is certified by the World Athletics as well as the Association of Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
